Syangja declared open defecation free zone
Syangja, Jan 10: Syangja district was declared the open defecation free zone by organising a formal programme in the district headquarters on Saturday. With this, 32 districts in the country were declared the open defecation free zone.
Minister for Industry Som Prasad Pandey made such announcement.
Lawmakers Kamal Pangeni, Mukti Pathak, Dr Ganeshman Gurung and Teku Nepali also attended the programme. On the occasion, the speakers said that declaration of open defecation free zone is the gesture of civilisation and a step in maintaining sanitation.
Different districts are making the announcement of open defecation free area after ensuring the access to latrines to all people as the government has set the target to provide water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) coverage for all by 2017.
