Karuna Foundation pledges financial aid of Rs 2.5 million
Ilam, Oct 7: Karuna Foundation, Ilam has pledged to provide financial support amounting to Rs 2.5 million for the construction of buildings of two health posts devastated by April 25 earthquake.
The Foundation, which has been working for the rehabilitation of physically-challenged people in a dozen VDCs of the district, made the announcement to construct buildings of Maipokhari and Shree Antu health posts, shared Foundation's Chief Ajit Yonjan.
According to the District Health Office, the April 25 and May 12 earthquakes had rendered 13 health institutions of the district devastated. The health service was adversely affected with the health posts based in Shree Antu and Maipokhari turning to rubbles in the tremblers.
An agreement was reached among the Foundation, Ilam District Development Committee and District Health Office to construct buildings for two health posts, shared District Health Office Chief Raj Kumar Pokharel.
An estimated cost for the construction of each health post building is Rs 1.8 millions. For the maintenance and up-gradation of other devastated health posts, the district health office has sought budget from the Ministry of Health and Population, informed Pokharel.
