Commitment to take mutual relations to new height

Kathmandu, Aug 21: The high level political leaderships of Nepal and India have reiterated the commitment to take relations of both countries to a new height.

Both sides of Nepal and India said that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi had expressed commitment to make mutual relations more dynamic and progressive.

After the meeting with PM Oli this afternoon, Indian Minister for External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who arrived here in a two-day visit leading the Indian delegation to participate in the fifth meeting of Nepal-India Joint Commission, informed that both Nepal and India expressed commitment to this regard.

During the meeting, the Indian Minister said both countries had realized political stability as well as a positive environment to make decision in a policy-level, according to PM Oli's Advisor on Foreign Affairs, Dr Rajan Bhattarai.

Similarly, PM Oli observed that environment of mutual trust was created, and Nepal was pursuing prosperity putting development at the centre. He also expressed gratitude to India for the harmony with Nepal.

On the occasion, the Indian Minister Jaishankar said bilateral relations between India and Nepal were strengthening, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to take the relations to a new height.

Responding to queries raised after the meeting, Foreign Affairs Advisor to Prime Minister Oli Dr Rajan Bhattarai said Prime Ministers of both countries would receive the report of Eminent Persons Group at a convenient time.

 

 

Likewise, Foreign Affairs Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi told the National News Agency (RSS) that the meeting discussed development and expansion of connectivity network of Nepal, exchange of high level visits between the countries and various aspects of mutual interests. 

Earlier, PM Oli and Indian Minister Jaishankar held a separate meeting for an hour. RSS
