Updated: 11 dead, two still missing in Gulmi landslides, 200 houses at risk
Tilachan Pande, Tamghas, July 23: Landslides at two wards of Satyawati Rural Municipality in Gulmi district have killed 11 people while two have gone missing.
The landslides occurred on Tuesday morning.
According to Chief District Officer, Yadunath Paudel, 8 people of the same family lost lives at Limgha, Satyawati Rural Municipality-4 when landslides buried their house and two other people were killed by landslides at Thulo Lumpek, ward no. 3 of the same rural municipality.
Two went missing when landslides swept away house of Rudra BK at Thulo Lumpek.
Six bodies of those killed have been recovered from the debris.
Rescue operations have been going on with the units of all three security agencies in the site.
200 houses at risk
Parisor Dhakal, chair of the rural municipality, said that over 200 houses of the Lumpek area were at risk due to incessant rainfall since Monday niht.
He said that people were terrified as there could be landslide due to the incessant rainfall and they were taking shelter in schools and that the ward office was arranging for the food and shelter of the affected people.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has reached the landslide affected area of the rural municipality with relief materials.
