Pakistani embassy awards winning students in essay, speech contest
Kathmandu, Mar 4: The Pakistani embassy distributed prizes amid a ceremony to the winning students of the 7th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Essay Writing Competition and 3rd Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Speech Competition here on Monday.
The winners were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals with a cash prize of Rs.50,000, 40,000, 35,000 and 25,000 for the first, second, third and fourth respectively in both the categories of competition - essay writing and speech.
Mallika Humagain of NIST college, Kavre, Spriha Baral of St. Xavier school, Lalitpur, and Anita Rai of Shivapuri secondary school, Kathmandu, became the first, second and third respectively in the essay writing while Roshan Nepal of Nepal Law Campus, Sunika Adhikari of St. Mary Higher Scondary School, Urusha KC of Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu and Manjeeta Gurung of St. Xavier college stood the first, second, third and fourth respectively in the speech contest.
Chief guest professor Dr. Damber Bahadur Nepali, Kathmandu University, and ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal Dr. Mazar Javed gave away the awards to winning students.
22 runners up were given consolation prizes of Rs. 5,000 each.
A large number of students from different higher secondary schools and high schools in Kathmandu had participated in the competition.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Nepali appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani embassy to convey the message of Pakistan’s friendship to Nepalese youth. Pakistani ambassador Dr. Mazar greatly admired the talent and potential of the participants and expressed hope that the competitions would also help bolster people to people contact between the two countries.
