Thakur’s solo exhibition of Mithila art

Kathmandu, Jan 16: A six-day solo exhibition of Mithila paintings by artist Sunaina Thakur has started at the gallery of the Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal on Monday.
CPN-Maoist Centre senior leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha inaugurated the exhibition amid a function organised at the gallery.
Besides leader Shrestha, Maithili literary writer Ramesh Ranjan Jha, Council Member and Head of Department of the Folk Arts at Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, S.C. Suman and artist and chairman of Society of Fine Arts Journalists -Nepal Keshav Raj Khanal expressed their views and remarks on Thakur’s paintings.
On the occasion, Thakur herself had spoken of her artistic journey, her contribution to the art field and the society and her future plan. It is the 2nd solo exhibition of artist Thakur. She had organised her 1st solo exhibition in the United States of America.
Altogether 28 works of her paintings are on display at the exhibition named ‘Equality’. All the paintings are for sale.
