Durbar Marg clean-up campaign held

Kathmandu, Sept. 23:On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Hotel Yak and Yeti and World Tourism Day, Hotel Yak & Yeti in cooperation with the Metropolitan Police Unit, Durbar Marg Development Board and Blue Waste on Wednesday organised a Durbar Marg clean-up campaign.
Hotel Yak & Yeti, one of the five star hotels in Kathamndu, organised the clean-up campaign as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) marking its completion of 40 years of service towards the hospitality industry in Nepal.
The hotel came into operation on September 27, 1977, three years before the UN declared September 27 as the World Tourism Day.
The clean-up campaign started from the door of the hotel covered the entire areas of Durbar Marg.
Speaking at the function, Shree Gurung of the Durbar Marg Development Committee said that the clean-up campaign in the area should be an all-time event.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Metropolitan Police Tilak Bharati said that clean-up programmes should be given continuity in order to make people aware about the management of garbage and waste.
General Manager of the Hotel Yak and Yeti Monika Petra Scheiblauer said that Nepal is a beautiful country, and the people here should always strive to keep up with their energy to make the country clean. “It was a collaborative programme to make the city clean and green,” she added.
