Khanal calls for holding three-tier elections on time
Ilam, June 21: Former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) senior leader, Jhalanath Khanal, has laid emphasis on the need to conclude holding all three elections by mid January next year.
Speaking to the National News Agency (RSS) this morning at Ilam's headquarters, Khanal appealed to the government to conduct the local level, provincial and central elections in the stipulated timeframe. He said the country will take a turn towards economic prosperity after the elections, and that UML will spearhead it.
"The country will embark on the path of economic prosperity and development," Khanal insisted, adding "UML's leadership is necessary for economic prosperity."
Stating that the results of the first round of local elections ensured UML's victory, the former minister expressed belief that the voters will vote for UML for sake of country's development.
He added further that the country was now entering a new phase with the end of an era of murder, violence and uprisings. RSS
