Constitution Day greetings
Kathmandu, Sept 19: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called upon all political parties and the people to work with full dedication for the protection and promotion of democracy and in the interest of the nation.
In the message of best wishes on the occasion of the Constitution Day today, the President wished, “May this Day, when the country obtained the first constitution of a Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, inspire us to work in unity.” She wished for peace, success, progress and prosperity of all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad on this occasion.
Stating that the Day would further encourage all Nepalis to move ahead for the institutional and dynamic development of federal system, the message mentioned that all Nepali should be determined towards it.
The new constitution got by the Nepali people after different movements has ensured rights of all people by guaranteeing federalism, republic, secularism, inclusion and proportional representation, added the message.
“The new constitution aims to build socialist economy by envisaging an equitable society that is based on social justice,” stated the message, noting that the political conflict and transition had officially come to an end with the promulgation of new national charter and making Nepali people fully sovereign.
Meanwhile, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has drawn the attention of all bodies concerned towards the acceleration of the constitution enforcement process.
In his best wishes to all Nepalis on the eve of the Constitution Day on Sunday, the Vice President stressed that all Nepali people take the constitution enforcement process as their common agenda and lay their focus on its effective implementation.
“The country is celebrating the first anniversary of the promulgation of the constitution. The Constitution Day marks the golden moment of the institutionalization of the achievements of various movements launched at different times, “ he said, expressing his hope that this Day would inspire us to promote mutual goodwill, harmony and tolerance with accelerating the constitution implementation process and strengthening sovereignty.
He further hoped that voices of dissent expressed from some sector regarding the constitution would be addressed soon.
Likewise, Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of the first Constitution Day.
Giving a best wishes message on the first Constitution Day, NC President Deuba said the constitution promulgated by the people’s representatives through the Constituent Assembly is the most significant achievement in Nepal’s history.
The constitution has provided a solid foundation to the country full of diversity for unity, harmony and collaborations, he said.
NC has fully respected Nepalis faith to democracy, he added, stressing the need of effective implementation of the constitution for country’s development and prosperity.
On the same occasion, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Pashupati Shumsher JB Rana stressed the need of elections in all three levels.
