Fedi folks join hands to save Red Panda
Khotang, July 1: Folks of Khotang's northern VDC Fedi have come together in a bid to conserve red panda after the rise in poaching of endangered wildlife in the area.
Conservation Committee Chairperson Gyan Kumar Rai said the Red Panda populated zone has been declared a poaching prohibited area with the rise in smuggling of endangered species. "The poachers were found to use trap and gun to tame the wildlife", he said, adding, "We have come up with an idea to form a committee to work for the conservation of Red Panda".
The Committee has started various activities such as putting up hoarding board with image of Red Panda in forest areas and holding interaction on the importance of Red Panda in schools and public places.
Red Panda is found in Bagale, Chilim Lahure, Fungalung and Chhimalung Community Forests which are connected to Makalu and Sagarmatha National Parks. RSS
